About Kadina Primary School
Kadina Primary School has delivered quality, public education on Yorke Peninsula for over 150 years and is committed to honour past traditions whilst positioning learners for a dynamic future. Located 150kms from the Adelaide CBD, the school is co-located with the Pre-School, High School, TAFE and community library.
An average student population of 450 across the school year with up to 18 classes allows for wonderful cross age tutoring opportunities, curriculum sharing and specialisation. Currently Physical Education, Music and French are offered as specialist instruction areas. Student wellbeing and voice is a priority for Kadina Primary. Explicit Values Education focusing on respect, co-operation, communication, personal best and honesty connected with intentional Student Governance are facilitated by our dedicated School Counsellor. Classes are 'buddied' for a range of learning and social activities including reading, writing, computing, technology and art. This has positive effects in terms of yard behaviour and relationship building for all students involved. Literacy and Numeracy is a staff training and development focus with screening protocols identifying students with learning difficulties. The schools' Intervention and Support Programs are recognised as effective, sustainable and equitable.
The school utilises three sub-school structures - junior, middle and upper primary with each teaching team committed to meeting and working together to maximise learning and resources and implement school agreements. The Principal and Deputy are actively involved in all aspects of improvement.
Active Parent Club and Governing Councils meet regularly to support and enhance school programs. Physically active pursuits are supported through school based programs, SAPSASA activities and support for engagement in extra curricula activities including Active After Schools. Choir is offered to senior primary students and recorder to middle primary with performances at school assemblies and a range of local events including for the choir the annual 'Combined Schools Choir Festival'.
The school has a new six classroom learning space and a range of ICT learning tools including ipods, ipads, interactive whiteboards and accesses virtual environments.
We welcome you to our forward thinking learning community.
